How to Sign-up Â鶹ÒùÔº in the Student Testing Center

Professors will need to use the to schedule students for exams.

Â鶹ÒùÔº have been directed to share this form with you should they have an exam request. The purpose behind using this form is to create a dialogue between faculty and students to best discuss how accommodations are used in each classroom.

All instructions of how to use or center, included available times and dates, are included on the form. Please contact the Student Testing Center with any questions or concerns.

   Proctorio and Canvas Exams

If you have exams scheduled that utilize Proctorio and/or Canvas, some students with accommodations may not need to use the Student Testing Center.

Â鶹ÒùÔº with 1.5x or 2.0x extended time accommodations can be proctored remotely using Proctorio. As the instructor, you will need to edit their specific time slots so that their exam time is accurately accommodated. This should be done prior to an exam, as exam times cannot be edited once an exam begins in Proctorio.

Some students may have accommodations that can make the use of Proctorio difficult during an exam (e.g. use of a reader, scribe, frequent breaks, assistive technology, etc.). Â鶹ÒùÔº needing to use the Testing Center for a Proctorio exam will need to be exempted from Proctorio. .

In the event that a student cannot use Proctorio for an online course exam, we will work with you directly to find a solution that works best for you and your student.

  Accommodating students with 1.5x/DRE

Per a student's accommodation letter, professors should provide the accommodation of 1.5x/DRE. If additional space is needed for these students during an exam, please visit the university room reservation website. Requests for students with 1.5x/DRE to take an exam in our center may be available depending on the day and time for students, but are not guaranteed. We reserve spaces for eligible students in our center for exams.

Requesting space for final exams

A form for reserving space for final exams will be made available prior to final exams. Our center will be open every day of final exams from 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Please begin to make arrangements for students needing 1.5x/DRE if you have not done so already. All spaces for final exams will first be reserved for students who are eligible to use our center. A student's accommodation letter will inform you if they are eligible to use our center.

Additional Services – Room Rental for Exam Proctoring Led by Instructors

As an instructor, if you do not wish to use our proctoring services but would still like to utilize rooms for accommodated students led by you or another course affiliate (such as a TA or GA), you may use rooms in the Student Testing Center if a room is available. Instructors may rent space for free to proctor accommodated students if you are in need of additional classroom space for exams. Spaces may only be reserved for students needing accommodations. Normal Student Testing Center operating hours apply. Please contact testing@colorado.edu to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Â鶹ÒùÔº will first need to receive testing accommodations from disability services if eligible. If a student requests to use that they need to use the testing center, please refer to your class roster to review their eligibility or refer them to disability services.

Once a student is eligible for testing services, they have been instructed to reach out to their professor. Professors may also reach out to the student to discuss how accommodations are met in your classroom. Please use the to sign-up your students after discussing with them how accommodations work in your class.

The testing center will have dedicated full time staff, graduate student staff, and student staff to aid in the process of proctoring exams, serving as readers/scribes as needed, or assist with providing specific exam requirements as needed.

Â鶹ÒùÔº with 1.5x and/or DRE should be provided by the professor, as stated in a students’ accommodation letter. If we are able to accommodate them on a weekday during the course of the calendar year, we will do so. However, please prepare to accommodate these students for final exams. There is limited space during finals, which is reserved exclusively for students who require the use of the STC.

Faculty may be able to utilize the Event Management System (EMS) website to reserve classroom space. If you do not have access to EMS as a faculty member, please work with your department (such as a course coordinator) to access the website or aid in assistance of reserving a room. You can find the directons on how to use the EMS website here: /students/find-your-study-spot/instructions-scheduling-space-ems

Â鶹ÒùÔº who use the STC must have registered accommodations through Disability Services. Â鶹ÒùÔº without accommodations who may need alternate testing times for other reasons should work with their professor separately. Please view our eligibility information.

If you wish for your student to use the center for accommodations during a time when our center is closed, you may have to find an alternative time for them to take the exam.

It is the responsibility of the student to contact you to discuss testing accommodations. Â鶹ÒùÔº will be instructed to share the STC form with you, or you may share the form while discussing accommodations. Read more about faculty roles and responsibilities.

The STC will make every effort to accommodate students. We request forms be completed in advance to scheduling proctors, readers, or scribes. If exam requests are late, we may not have suitable staff available, or all exam reservations may be already full. The STC may not be able to accommodate late requests.

All exams sent to the Testing Center are handled only by full-time staff or graduate students. Our exam handling room is locked and only accessible to these staff members. Once an exam is completed, these staff members will handle the exam and return the exam to the professor through scanning or holding on to the exam for the professor to pick up. Otherwise, we keep the physical copies of exams to keep record in the case of any academic disputes. At the end of the semester, we confidentially shred/recycle any and all exam materials. However, we will always default to the request of the professor/instructor if they wish to have the exam destroyed immediately or otherwise returned.

Please visit our Faculty and Staff Resources page for more information about Disability Services and accommodations.

The request form for final exams will be made available in early November. Final exam space is reserved for students who require the use of the STC. If you have students with with only 1.5x and/or DRE, please begin to make arrangements for their exam.
