The Volunteer Resource Center offers many ways for students to gain leadership skills and experience.

SkoÌýServe Site Leaders

Sko ServeÌýsends teams of college students to engage in meaningful service during their breaks from school. These week-long journeys are each led by two site leaders who are responsible for planning all aspects of the program.

Through our training program, site leaders learn about reciprocity, active citizenship, community building, culturally competent leadership and the complexity of social and environmental issues. They also learn how to facilitate others’ learning around these valuable concepts.

CU in the Community Project Leads

CU in the Community is a series of one-time, student-led volunteer projects in collaboration with local nonprofit organizations that support social and environmental justice.

Project leads are responsible for coordinating and directing volunteers. The opportunity also allows project leads to build new connections, practice leadership skills and spend a day making a positive impact while participating in meaningful service.

PALS Peer Mentors

The Service and Social Action Living Learning Community (LLC) welcomes first-year students from all colleges and majors for the opportunity to develop as a leader and step into a life dedicated to equity-based social action through purpose-driven service, education and reflection.

PALS (Peers Activating Leaders in Service) mentors support residents throughout the year. They are an essential part of the program, helping other students find the best food on campus, learn to navigate difficult conversations with a friend or find support with anything else during their first year.
