Cindy Donahue And Dale Trevino Named To Student Affairs Director Posts At CU-Boulder

Cindy Donahue, interim director of Disability Services at CU-Boulder, and Dale Trevino, interim director of the Cultural Unity Center, have been appointed to the position of director of their respective units, according to Elease Robbins, associate vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students. Both directors are looking forward to meeting new and continuing CU-Boulder students at their welcome events on Friday, Aug. 24, and Monday, Aug. 27.

CU-Boulder Achieves Planned Reduction In Size Of Freshman Class

The University of Colorado at Boulder will welcome an estimated 4,950 new freshmen for the start of fall 2001 classes on Aug. 27. This year's freshman class is 3 percent under last year's record-breaking class of 5,095. The reduction was planned by university officials in order to ensure on-campus housing for all new freshmen and to enhance the campus experience for incoming students.

Barbara Kulton Appointed Associate Director Of CU-Boulder Women's Resource Center

Barbara Kulton has been named associate director of the Women's Resource Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Activities planned by the center for the beginning of fall semester will be Kulton's first chance to interact with students in her new role. "I'm absolutely thrilled to have Barbara on board," said Gina Rosabal, director of the center. "She's a highly skilled individual in a number of areas that will really balance what we already have at the center. I think she is the perfect addition to our staff."

"Words to Stir the Soul: Readings from the American West," will be presented by the CU-Boulder Center of the American West in Denver on Thursday, Aug. 30, and in Boulder on Friday, Aug. 31. Among the featured readers will be University of Colorado President Elizabeth Hoffman, Lakewood Mayor Steve Burkholder, CU-Denver history Professor Tom Noel and CU-Boulder history Professor Patricia Nelson Limerick.

Range Of Activities In Store For CU-Boulder Â鶹ÒùÔº Arriving For Fall 2001 Semester

While they're still trying to figure out where the student union is located, new and returning students at the University of Colorado at Boulder will be awash in activities to help them learn about campus and have fun while they're unpacking and finalizing class schedules. Classes begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 27. But leading up to that date are a slew of events ranging from late-night movies and rock-wall climbing to bicycle tours of Boulder and several events for foreign and minority students.

CU-Boulder Names Roop Mahajan Interim Dean Of Engineering

CU Recycling Ready To Handle Boxes During Student Move-In

Photo Editors: Â鶹ÒùÔº will be helping with cardboard recycling between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at all residence hall loading docks beginning Aug. 21. CU Recycling is in contact with students by radio and can help arrange photos at (303) 492-8307. For the fourth year, CU Recycling will be ready to collect and recycle empty cardboard boxes when University of Colorado at Boulder students begin moving into campus residence halls on Aug. 21.

CU-Boulder Volunteers To Help New Â鶹ÒùÔº Move In Aug. 21-22

CU-Boulder Chancellor Richard Byyny, the vice chancellors and deans will be assisting students between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Aug. 21 and Aug. 22. About 600 volunteers will be posted throughout the University of Colorado at Boulder campus Aug. 21-22 to welcome new students and help them, and their belongings, get settled in the residence halls.

Researchers Generate New Approach To Working With Laser Light

A team of researchers in Boulder, Colo., has generated a new and flexible approach to working with laser light in the world of ultrafast science by successfully combining extremely short pulses of light generated by two independent lasers into a single pulse of light.

CU-Boulder Looking For Past Residence Hall Advisers For October Weekend Event

Former residence hall advisers and housing staff members at the University of Colorado at Boulder are invited to a first-ever reunion of those groups during the Oct. 12-13 Back to Boulder Weekend on campus. CU-Boulder's Housing Department is trying to locate all former Resident Advisers, or RAs, and housing staff to include them in the events. The Housing Department, in conjunction with the Alumni Association, is hosting the Resident Adviser Roundup reunion.
