Guest Services
Guest Services is a front line customer service position. We handle all entry into the facility, assist with membership, locker, registration questions and equipment checkout. Guest Services provides exceptional customer service both in person to members, guests and visitors as well as those calling over the phone. Guest Services is staffed at both recreation facilities on CU’s Campus; Main Campus and Williams Village.
- Choose a positive attitude, have fun, strive to make everyone’s day a little better and be present, engaged and attentive during each interaction (GO Fish!)
- Provide outstanding customer service to all patrons, guests and visitors
- Address each question like it is the first time you’ve heard it, anticipate needs by providing all the information you can, continue to seek new knowledge around our facilities, programs, and operations
- Enforce department policies and procedures consistently with all patrons
- Actively control patron access and address any membership questions or issues
- Properly check out equipment and maintain accurate inventory of equipment items
- Perform laundry service to ensure towels are available for checkout at all times; complete other department laundry as needed
- Respond to emergencies and/or injuries within the scope of your training. Maintain a current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification at all times and successfully demonstrate skills through audits, in-services and situations at the Rec Center
- Attend monthly and semester trainings and in-services
- Work mandatory Guest Services shifts (two breaks per academic year, locker impounding and cleanout, extra hours at the start of the semester, and early/late event shifts as needed)
- This position participates in the development of ideas and suggestions for program and facility improvement by using the various facilities and equipment periodically to ensure that they are meeting or exceeding the standards of the department.
- Be an advocate and active promoter of Rec Services programs and facilities. Follow department policies both as an employee and participant. Bring forward ideas for improvement from both employee and user perspectives.
- Complete supervisor forms and documents including hourly counts, daily checklist tasks and report facility issues.
- Perform other work and duties as assigned

energy and a smile! - Must be currently enrolled as a student at University of Colorado taking at least 6 credits.
- Must be dependable, accountable and punctual for assigned shifts.
- Availability to work early morning, late night and weekend shifts; as well as special event shifts as needed.
- Guest Services Attendants start at $16/hour.
- Guest Services Supervisor & Williams Village start at $16.85/hour.
- Positions have the ability to work towards promotion.

Weight Room Attendant
Be proactive, engaging and resourceful. Provide excellent customer service to help promote safe workouts while maintaining a courteous and professional atmosphere. Maintain, inspect, and clean the weight room/fitness room facility and equipment. Frequent roaming of spaces and talking with patrons. Enforce weight and cardiovascular room policies. Assist participants with minor disputes and problems. Anticipate potential risks of injury, take measures to remove them, and in the event of injury, have the ability to implement emergency medical procedures. Complete shift tasks, forms and headcounts. Communicate concerns to supervisor.

- Complete a variety of tasks such as taking out compost, organizing weight plates, etc.

- Candidate must have excellent communication and people skills.
- Prior weight room experience including weight training and weight room supervision preferred.
- Frequent lifting and moving of heavy equipment. Must be able to lift 45 pounds.
- Have a basic knowledge and interest in resistance training and cardiovascular equipment upkeep, maintenance and operations.
- Know locations of equipment and equipment offerings at the Recreation Center.
- Utilization of tools including, but not limited to wrenches, screw drivers and socket sets.
- Current CPR certification required if not certified must become certified within 30 days of hire. (American Red Cross and American Heart Association accepted) must keep current throughout employment and successfully demonstrate skills through audits, in-services and situations at the Rec Center.
- This position works both at Main Recreation Center and Williams Village.
- Must be willing to work shifts scheduled early mornings(5:45 a.m.), evenings (till 11:45 p.m.) as well as weekends.
- Homework is not allowed while working as this is a safety position

Maintenance Student Fitness Technician
Provide support on all fitness equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and cleaning of all the CU Recreation Center fitness equipment.
- Routinely perform facility walk-throughs to ensure safety and identify maintenance tasks.
- Carrying out preventative and general maintenance and repairs on all fitness equipment in the Recreation Facility.
- Work cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
- Work with construction related equipment including hand and power tools, as well as chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Maintaining all required records of work orders and scheduled maintenance.
- Assist with calls to vendors for warranty issues.
- Communicate with Fitness Technician Manager in regards to shifts, meetings, and trainings in a timely fashion.
- Serve as a good role model for other staff.
- Perform other work and duties as assigned.
- Must be currently enrolled as a student at University of Colorado taking at least 6 credits.

Maintenance Student Attendant
- Follow the preset guidelines for routine cleaning ad inspection of all fitness equipment.
- Assist with fitness equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Keep facilities in excellent condition while also providing great customer service to our members.
- Works cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
- Perform building and equipment preventative maintenance tasks.
- Assist in the repair of building systems and equipment. (filters, pumps, motors, control systems, lighting systems, etc.).
- Replace light bulbs throughout Rec sports facilities.
- Prep walls and painting.
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Under supervision, will work with construction related equipment including hand and power tools, as well as chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Performs other work as assigned.
- Maintaining all required records of work orders and scheduled maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and orderly service area, keeping tools and supplies in proper place.

Student Athletic Trainer’s Assistant
Gain hands on experience in the athletic training field by aiding Recreation Injury Care Center Athletic Trainers in providing superior sports medicine services to all club sport and recreation center participants at the University of Colorado Boulder, with the full support of the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center (CUSMPC) and Wardenburg Health Services.
- Aid patrons in signing-in and filling out proper forms.
- Computer entry of injury reports and treatments.
- Clean treatment tables, whirlpool and countertops.
- Assist the Athletic Trainer, Assistant Athletic Trainer and Facility Supervisor with Rec Center injuries under supervision.
- Basic first aid application.
- Basic wrapping and taping of club sports injuries.
- Crutch application.
- Ultrasound/e-stim application.
- Stocking first aid/medical kits.
- Aid with inventory tracking and ordering of supplies.
- Filling the whirlpool.
- Making ice bags.
- Activate emergency response plan, if necessary.
- Execute rehabilitation exercises as deemed by the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Float around to sport club practices, providing the teams with ice, basic first aid, and injury transportation
- Minimum One Semester Experience as a Recreation Injury Care Center Intern
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
- Willingness to learn about sports medicine and athletic training.
- Outgoing people person who is dedicated to giving athletes/patients the best quality care.
Special Event Staff
Under the supervision of the Events and Facility Operations Coordinator, this position’s focus is to ensure a safe and fun environment for all participants. The main goal of event staff is to be a resource and provide excellent customer service.
This position works collaboratively with other campus departments and external clients to facilitate campus events, conferences, and meetings. A varying work schedule will be required for this position; evening and weekend hours will be necessary at times based on position responsibilities and scheduled events.

Rec Admin Student Staff
Rec Admin Student Staff contribute to the function, operation, and maintenance of the Recreation Services Administrative Suite. We handle supply management, phone inquiries, and logistical tasks as needed by our Rec team.We provide exceptional customer service both our internal and external customers.
- Provide front line customer service in answering questions, giving directions, fielding phone calls to Rec Center patrons and guests.
- Receive Recreation Services patrons and direct them to their location or provide information on the service/program requested.
- Assist with staff support functions to include onboarding, mail distribution, and office administration.
- Assist Senior Leadership Staff with administrative tasks relevant to their specific areas.
- Assist with Rec Center events through scheduling assistance and facility preparation.
- Support facility operations and programming by assisting with distribution of marketing materials.
- Contribute to a positive and welcoming environment for the Recreation Services Administrative Suite.
- Perform other work and duties as assigned.

- Previous customer service experience preferred.
