Picture of the Week: Setting records, making history
While topped 20 inches in Boulder this weekend resulting in a campus snow day on March 15, many of us were glued to the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday night...with good reason: we're so pleased to congratulate newly appointed violist of the Takács Quartet Richard O'Neill on winning for his recording of Christopher Theofanidis'Ìý"Concerto for Viola and Chamber Orchestra." It was O'Neill's third Grammy nomination and first win, and he's only the second person to receive an award for a viola performance in the history of this category. Theofanidis'Ìýcomposition—which O'Neill recorded alongside conductor David Alan Miller and the Albany Symphony—was inspired by Navajo poetry and the composer's psychological response to the September 11 attacks. Learn more about O'Neill and his historic win on our website.
