Stage management—FAQ

All supported recitals in the Imig Music Building have a stage manager present. The stage manager will arrive at the performance hall one hour prior to your performance to prepare; the stage manager will unlock the green room, set and change the stage, change the lights, and open and close the doors to the hall.

Complete the Staging Information form at least 4 weeks prior to your event (return the form to S213).

Yes. S101, the Grusin lobby and the Tile Lounge are available for scheduling a reception. Please reserve the space of your choice with the scheduling assistant when reserving your recital time.

No, during your performance the stage manager has responsibilities both backstage and in the house that prevent them from being onstage during your performance. Please have someone else available to turn pages, operate audio or video playback, etc.

A $100 charge covers the time for the stage manager, recording technician and livestream operator. After the performance you will receive links to download both the audio and video recordings, and the audio recording will be archived in our music library. Extensive sound reinforcement or anything requiring additional crew personnel will be billed at an additional $20 per hour. If you have additional support needs, please contact Kevin Harbison as far in advance as possible.

Most audio and video recordings are ready within a week of your performance. You will receive an email with links to download the files.

Recording session—FAQ

If you'd like to make your own recording, equipment is available for checkout from the AV office (S216); contact Dustin Rumsey for more information or to reserve equipment. Both the Chamber Hall (S102) and Ensemble Hall (S134) have built-in audio and video recording capabilities. These rooms can be reserved through the Scheduling Office; then Dustin or Kevin can show you how the equipment is accessed.

For recording in Grusin Music Hall with Kevin Harbison, please note: The hall is reserved on Tuesdays, 4-6 p.m., on a first-come, first-served basis; other times may be available. Either way, contact Kevin to make arrangements.

Session and post-production time for audition recordings with Kevin Harbison or one of his crew are billed at $20/hour. Session and post-production time for DMA project recordings with Kevin Harbison are billed at $60/hour.
