This summer, Eklund Opera鈥檚 trailblazing new works program鈥擟U New Opera Workshop, or CU NOW鈥攑ulls out all the proverbial stops in its latest quest to bring what鈥檚 fresh and exciting about opera to the campus of CU Boulder.

Oboist Jordan Pyle will address graduates at College of Music commencement on May 12.

At this year鈥檚 commencement ceremony, in addition to honoring the graduates who will become Forever Buffs, the College of Music will call out the varied legacies of three members of our extended community.

After a sold-out concert with pop-folk duo the Indigo Girls in Spring 2016, this spring the College of Music鈥檚 premier ensemble again booked a gig with the Girls鈥攖his time to record a live album.

Nadya Hill is a vocalist. A violinist. A visual artist. A full-stack Javascript web developer. But on Friday night and Sunday afternoon, as she performs in Eklund Opera鈥檚 season-ending 鈥淩ed Hot and Cole,鈥� she鈥檒l just be Linda Porter.

For two days in March 2017, flutists young and old converged on CU Boulder for the Once a Flutist Festival. Including master classes with Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway, panels and recitals, the event was a reminder that if you鈥檙e once a flutist鈥� you鈥檙e always a flutist.

On Tuesday, May 2, the CU Symphony Orchestra and choirs bring Mozart鈥檚 masterpiece, the Requiem in D minor, to the Macky Auditorium stage, capping off a banner year for the College of Music with a performance of one of music鈥檚 monumental masterworks.

As the Boulder community benefits from the Artist Series' concerts, students at the College of Music enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing, learning from鈥攅ven talking shop with鈥攖heir idols.

In our final Faculty Tuesday recital of the season, Christina Jennings performs as part of the Once a Flutist festival in a program celebrating the diversity and community of the oldest instrument on Earth.
