Specializations
CU Boulder’s Masters of the Environment Graduate Program provides students with five tracks in which they can specialize: Environmental and Natural Resources Policy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Sustainability in the Outdoor Industry, Sustainable Food Systems, and Urban Resilience and Sustainability. While all MENV students take a common set of core requirements, these specialization areas provide students with the relevant tools and knowledge relevant to specific career paths.
The Environmental and Natural Resources specialization focuses on the creation, analysis, and implementation of policy solutions to modern challenges, such as environmental justice, pollution, water scarcity, habitat loss, public land managment, and climate change.
With a focus on technology, policy, and business and finance, the Renewable and Sustainable Energy specialization develops professionals with a balanced approach and the ability to understand and appreciate the interconnected nature of the various aspects of the clean energy and decarbonization fields.
The MENV Sustainability in the Outdoor Industry specialization prepares its students to successfully engage with and be future leaders in the outdoor recreation economy.
The Sustainable Food Systems specialization uniquely prepares students to understand the contemporary food system with connections to significant environmental impacts and areas of interest, such as water, land access, and urban resilience.
The Urban Resilience and Sustainability specialization prepares students to design, implement, and help lead urban resilience and sustainability policies, projects, and programs.
