Cindy joined CEAS in this role in October 2021. Her prior appointments at CU Boulder include Finance Manager for ODECE (Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement) and Undergraduate Education, Senior Executive Aide to Senior Vice Chancellor and COO, Kelly Fox, Senior Executive Aide and Finance & Operations Manager for the Campus Controller’s Office, and Senior Executive Aide to the Associate VC of Budget & Finance.

What have been some meaningful ways in which you have felt welcomed to CEAS?

After a devastating layoff at the end of 2020, I am deeply grateful to have landed in the ITLP. Everyone here has been so kind. They regularly express appreciation for the skills and experience that I bring to this role and make me feel welcome and cared for as part of this community.

How do you enjoy practicing self-care?

I spent several years in roles that took up evenings, weekends, and even vacations, so I am now committed to ensuring that I have better work-life balance. I spend time nearly every day cycling, knitting, reading, and singing. Each of these activities has its own way of fulfilling me and reducing stress.

What is an ordinary moment in your life that brings you joy?

Hearing a song with excellent harmonies and singing along! I especially love a really well-done remake. (Check out “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by Trousdale, “The Boxer” by Erato, or “Send My Love” by I’m With Her.)

What’s the best way for others to collaborate effectively with you?

Just ask! I love working with others to resolve issues, create process improvements, and get things done. I thrive best in a high-trust environment, where there is a strong sense of camaraderie and folks treat each other with respect.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

If you’ve talked to me it’s probably come up, but most people wouldn’t suspect that I’m an avid recreational cyclist. Last summer, I created and led a group of new/older/injured riders in training for and riding the Venus de Miles. It was so fun to see them reach beyond what they thought was possible and achieve their goal. My favorite rides were Tour of the Moon (up and over the Colorado National Monument) and the ride from Aspen to the Maroon Bells.

One thing you’re willing to spend way too much on...

I always have a knitting project (or three) in the works, and I love buying yarn while on vacation or visiting a new destination. It’s really fun to have a scarf, shawl, or hat that reminds me of that experience so I have been known to splurge just a little bit…

What is your guilty pleasure?

Tik Tok. Nearly every time I allow myself to let it feed me videos for a while I end up laughing out loud. I love that!
