Rebecca Mobley, ITLP Academic Program Associate

Rebecca began her work at CEAS in March 2020 as the Academic Program Associate for the Integrated Teaching and Learning Program (ITLP). Prior to joining CU, she worked as an elementary school teacher in Brooklyn, NY, a School Programs Educator for the Phillips Collection Museum of Modern Art in Washington, DC, and a Program Specialist for the American Bar Association in Washington, DC. She has a BA in Psychology from Fordham University in Bronx, NY and earned a MA in Psychology in Education from Columbia University, NYC. She also has experience working as a volunteer/therapist trainee with the Mind Mental Health Charity in London, UK.

What has been your favorite work or personal project so far?

Helping to create and manage the ! Especially in remote times, this has been one of my favorite ways we've adapted to engage with the CEAS community and to share our skill-building workshops with CU students, instructors, and the engineering community at-large. The content our Engineers create is continually growing, and I'm always excited to see what's next!

What have been some meaningful ways in which you have felt welcomed to CEAS?

I moved to CO from VA at the beginning of the pandemic last year, and the first piece of mail I received was a lovely welcome card from Alisha. It was such a thoughtful start to the beginning of my work with CEAS, and helped me feel at ease when everything else seemed so out-of-control.

Who would you most like to meet and why?

Bob Ross! He started out as an engineer, and his life led him to being the Zen-like artist "Bob Ross" everyone knows today. I would love to hear in his own words what that was like, and also have a happy little painting lesson together.

What is a motto or quote that you hold dear and why?

"Be open to whatever comes next." Aside from this being a generally good motto, I first saw it written as an art print on my first visit to Colorado in 2018. It stuck with me so much that I bought the copy of the print. Three years later, the print is back where it started, now hanging in my first Colorado home!

What's something most people don't know about you?

I lived/worked in London, UK for two years and earned an MA as an Art Psychotherapist. I love to discuss anything art therapy-related, so if anyone is interested or has questions please reach out!

What is an ordinary moment in your life that brings you joy?

Watering my house plants (and maybe giving them some encouraging words while I do it...)
