Admissions

The majority of students have over two years of work experience in a variety of industries including high tech, energy, metals, construction, manufacturing, the armed forces, and, of course, engineering.  However, no professional work experience is required to apply.

GRE scores are required only if your undergraduate GPA is below a 3.0. Applicants who submit GRE scores are required to score in the median to high range. Statistics relating to test scores are located at . Since the review committee evaluates the application as a whole, there is not a definite minimum score.

We offer dual degrees with Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering, Interdisciplinary Telecommunication, and Mechanical Engineering.

Please contact emp@colorado.edu to request a review of your application packet from your current academic program to see what other items would be required.

There are several potential paths to admission if your prior GPA is below the 3.0 standard:

  • A strong score on the GRE.
  • Start as a non-degree student and earn high grades.
  • Five or more years of relevant work experience.

The EMP strives to consider the whole person in the application process.

With any of the above options it is the overall strength of the application that will determine the admissions outcome.
