Video Technician
Approximately 50 hours each semester during the 2021/2022 academic year. In-person job supports the Visiting Artist Program and Visual Resources Center. Responsibilities include attending and videorecording and/or recording virtual content presentations for approximately five visiting artist lectures each semester on specified Tuesday evenings (6 PM-8:30 PM), to be held live and/or in streaming format depending on COVID protocols. This position also serves as technical support for the lectures in the 1B20 auditorium as needed. The position edits, catalogs, and archives the videos in our digital library for future access.
About 20 hours total of training and planning will be required in the Fall starting in mid-September, and approximately 20 hours total of editing and processing work will be required over the course of each semester. The Video Technician must be available on Tuesday evenings for the lectures (scheduling of specific Fall dates is currently underway). The hours for training, planning, editing, and processing must be scheduled during regular business hours, with scheduling arrangements to be determined based on the employee鈥檚 weekly availability.
Position requires advanced videography and video editing skills, with capacity for close attention to detail, a high degree of reliability, and a flexible attitude to respond to evolving circumstances. Equipment and Digital Collections Assistant
Must have a work-study award through Financial Aid. In-person position. Responsible for circulating VRC equipment to faculty and students in the department. Equipment includes digital SLR cameras, video cameras, tripods, laptop computers, data projectors, and more. Digital imaging and image research for the VRC's digital library are assigned as needed.
Outstanding customer service skills, the capacity for close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are required for the position. Advanced knowledge of photography and videography equipment, as well as digital imaging, is preferable, but we are willing to hire and train individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm to learn about the equipment. Visual Resources Assistant
Must have a work-study award through Financial Aid. Art history, studio art, or related major. Freshman or sophomore preferred. In-person position, with some remote hours possible over time. Performs a variety of tasks in support of teaching and research, including digitizing and creating descriptive metadata for images in the database. Job duties also include assisting patrons using the public scanning stations. Other duties may be specified by the supervisor. Training is provided.
Requires capacity for close attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Experience in art, art history, and/or digital imaging is desirable. Provides a great opportunity to work with and learn about a broad variety of art, architecture, and related visual culture, while learning valuable professional skills.
