The Woodshop is a state-of-the-art facility where Art and Art History students build valuable skills in pursuit of their creative research. Over time, student input has guided the development of the shop’s resources and services, which include tools and processes spanning from the 17th century to the digital technologies of today. The Woodshop embraces methods of making influenced by both western and eastern philosophies to provide students with choices and possibilities as they explore technical and creative problem-solving. This valuable resource supports coursework across the Art and Art History curriculum. Whether students are fabricating sculptures or installations, laser cutting, 3D printing, making canvas stretchers, or building fine stringed instruments, staff members with professional expertise are available to train and mentor in planning, executing, and installing projects.
