Latimer Controls Inc.

Latimer Controls is building cutting-edge utility-scale control systems that enable stand-alone dispatchable solar power.

The University of Colorado Connection

Latimer Controls was founded in 2022 by Simon Julien (Applied Mathematics, '22) and Zachary Jacobs (Chemical and Biological Engineering, '21) to bring to market their innovative solar energy control system to solve the very real problem of intermittent renewable power. This technology was co-invented by Simon, working as an undergraduate and master's student in collaboration with Bri-Mathias Hodge (Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering), Amirhossein Sajadi (Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI)) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Latimer Controls has graduated from the Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator Class of 2022, won the American Made Solar Prize, signed its first pilot with Kaua’i Island Utility Cooperative and is seeking patent protection across the globe.
