In order to reduce day-time traffic impacts as the Baseline Road Underpass Project nears completion, Boulder travelers are advised that work to reconstruct center medians will include three temporary, overnight closures of Baseline Road and other impacts from March 9 toÌý12 and March 17 and 19.
Please note, all work is weather dependent and subject to change.ÌýPeople traveling in the area should allow for extra travel time and may wish to consider alternate routes.
Major impacts
Thursday, March 9, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, Baseline Road will be closed between 27th Way and Broadway. A realignment of the eastbound lanes of Baseline Road will be completed this night, along with median preparation work.
Friday, March 10, from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day, Baseline Road will be closed between 27th Way and Broadway.
Saturday, March 11, beginning at 9 a.m. through the end of the day Sunday, March 12, Baseline Road, between Broadway and U.S. 36, will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction.
Friday, March 17, from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day, Baseline Road will be closed between 27th Way and Broadway.
Saturday, March 18, beginning at 9 a.m. through the end of the day Sunday, March 19, Baseline Road, between Broadway and U.S. 36, will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction.
Other impacts
During closures of Baseline Road between 27th Way and Broadway, the Baseline Road entrance to the Basemar shopping complex will be temporarily closed. The Broadway access to Basemar will remain open during these periods, and detour routes will be posted.
Additionally, the eastbound bus stop on Baseline, east of the Basemar driveway, will be closed.
Bike facility users will continue to be detoured to the multi-use path on the north side of Baseline. Pedestrian access on the south side of Baseline Road between Broadway and 27th Way will remain open with the existing detours in place. The B-Cycle station is anticipated to remain open and accessible during the duration of the median work.
The work performed from March 9 toÌý12 includes the removal of existing medians from the U.S. 36 overpass to Broadway, grading work and the installation of curb and gutter for the new medians. Work scheduled for March 17 to 19 includes preparations for and placement ofÌýthe new concrete median cover material.
