Work-Study Eligibility
Here is some useful information to help you understand how work-study is offered.
Eligibility
- Incoming first-year students and transfer students who apply early, demonstrate significant financial need and indicate interest in work-study on the FAFSA are automatically eligible.
- Work-study amounts are determined by available funding and previous earnings.
- Â鶹ÒùÔº begin receiving financial aid offers as early as March. Complete the FAFSA early as work-study is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and funding is limited.
Who is Offered Work-Study?
- A student must demonstrate significant financial need and indicate interest in work-study on the FAFSA.
- Â鶹ÒùÔº who have earned work-study previously are given it automatically if they apply early and still qualify based on financial need.
Resources
- Work-study is never applied directly to a student's bill. The student is paid bi-weekly for hours worked at a work-study job.
- Work-study jobs are regular part-time jobs, even though it may sound like it implies doing schoolwork during work hours. Â鶹ÒùÔº are only paid for the hours that they work and must request permission from a supervisor to conduct any personal activity on the job.
- Student Employment maintains a work-study waitlist for eligible students who don't receive an offer automatically.
