Goal: Continue to integrate your new hire into the culture of your workplace and allow them to navigate unscheduled worktime.听

  • You are encouraged to share a meal with your new hire and team. To help facilitate this meal, new hires in Student Affairs will receive a meal card in their new employee welcome bag (picked up听prior to the employee's start date from SA HR in C4C S380) to use in the campus dining halls.听
  • Have a "style and culture鈥� meeting with new hire. This conversation should focus on the culture of your department including unspoken 鈥渞ules鈥� that will help your new hire to thrive.听
  • Have a 鈥渞oles and responsibilities鈥� meeting with new hire. This conversation should focus on why you hired them and what you are expecting of them. Discuss divisional policies, communication, etc.听听
  • Have a check-in meeting with your new hire at least three times during their first week.听
  • Have new hire complete a department/unit orientation.听
    • The onboarding program manager is available to meet with the supervisor/hiring manager to develop a departmental/unit orientation.听
    • Departmental Orientation may include:听
      • Organizational charts听
      • Mission/goal and how it fits into CU鈥檚 larger goals听
      • Typical work week听
      • Introduction to other colleagues听
      • Understand why their role is important to the greater whole听
      • Networking exercises听

  • Discuss Divisional policies, communications, and resources with your new hire.听
  • Update any directory information on websites/bulletins, etc. regarding your new hire.听
  • If your new hire will use KRONOS timekeeping, sign them up for KRONOS training. 听
  • Get new hire added to team/department recurring meetings.听
  • Ensure new hire is getting all paperwork done in MyCUInfo portal including tax forms, employment forms, and time tracking system specific to their role.听
    • If you are onboarding a supervisor, train them on how to approve timesheets听
  • Get new hire added to appropriate departmental email distribution lists, Teams, etc.听听
  • Schedule time for your new hire to pick up their Buff OneCard. If they attended QuickStart, they will be aware of how to request their Buff OneCard.听
    • Pickup at C4C N180, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.听
  • Ensure new hire is granted building access once they have picked up their Buff OneCard.听
  • Schedule time for your new hire to complete their I-9 Section 2 (no formal appointment required). If they attended QuickStart, they will be aware this needs to be completed within three days of their start date and the appropriate documentation to bring.听

      • ARC, third floor, Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.听听
      • Regent basement, Monday-Wednesday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
