  • Continue to meet for 1:1s once a week or every other week. Identify who is best for the new hire to go to when supervisor is not present.Ìý
  • Have 1:1 meetings set up with the rest of the team/individuals the new hire will frequently work with. These could be casual, virtual coffee chats or more related to work based on your new hire’s needsÌý
  • Have a 30-day check-inÌý
    • The onboarding program manager is available to meet with the supervisor/hiring manager to develop what this may look like for your new hire.Ìý
  • Discuss CU’s Performance Planning and Review.Ìý
  • Complete the Work Agreement Form for employees working in hybrid or remote work modalities.Ìý
  • Complete department/division level orientation, trainings and team building activities.Ìý
  • Schedule time to attend division and campus-wide onboarding programsÌý
    • Student Affairs New Employee Orientation: This training provides new Student Affairs employees with useful information about the division and resources for staff. New staff are encouraged to attend a New Employee Orientation session within their first six months.ÌýÌýÌý
    • New Employee Welcome Experience: This all-day tour of central and east campus connects new hires and shares the story of how CU Boulder became the institution it is today. This is ideally scheduled within a new hire’s first two months.Ìý
    • CU Discover: Held monthly/bimonthly, these 1-hour virtual sessions present an opportunity to learn more about working in higher education and at CU Boulder.Ìý
  • Ensure new hire completes CU Boulder’s two mandatory trainings:Ìý
    • Ìý

  • Ensure new hire completes access-based trainings.Ìý
  • Encourage new hire to enroll in their benefits and/or within the first 31 days of their start date.Ìý
    • In-person orientation: Generally offered every other week in the Administrative & Research Center (ARC) third floor from 2:30-4:00 p.m. MT.Ìý
    • Video orientation: Available online in Spanish and English.Ìý

SA Finance will send a financial overview training of financials to learn key terms like ‘speedtype’ and ‘account code.’ÌýÌý

  • If your new hire will oversee a budget or portion of the department’s budget (including gifts, grants, staff, student staff), have them register for budget training.
    • Access to mfin and training.Ìý
    • Access to Student Affairs data warehouse and trainingÌý
  • If your new hire will have a business need to receive payments, reach out to SA Finance to schedule PCI and/or cash handling training.
