Frequently asked questions about the ASL program at CU Boulder.

I have completed four classes of ASL at another institution, can I take SLHS 2325: ASL 3 course?

Maybe. It depends on the credit hours of the classes you took (e.g., 3-credit, 4-credit, or 5-credit) and which curriculum you used. Taking the online placement test will validate your level of proficiency, determine whether the courses you took at another institution fulfills the university’s foreign language requirements, and to determine which ASL course level to enroll in at CU-Boulder. You should also reach out to your ASL instructor at CU-Boulder to discuss your previous experience with ASL and how ASL will be taught at CU-Boulder.

The ASL course that I wanted to enroll in is full, I have been wanting to take it for a long time …Or, I have a family member who is deaf… I am hard-of-hearing myself…, isn’t there anyway you could enroll me in the course?

No. ASL courses at CU-Boulder are very popular and tend to fill to capacity every semester. Â鶹ÒùÔº are encouraged to join the waitlist for ASL courses if they cannot enroll and to remain on the waitlist to become eligible to use the Course Reservation option, which will allow you to enroll in an ASL course the following semester. Dropping the course off the waitlist will remove you from the ability to use the Course Reservation option. The Course Reservation option will allow you to enroll in a course in the next following semester.
