MAVEN is preparing to take on additional responsibility as a data-relay satellite for NASA鈥檚 Mars 2020 rover, which launches next year.

CU Boulder spinoff Stateless, a 鈥渘etwork-as-a-service鈥� company, raised $11.33 million in Series A funding in late January 2019. The company was founded in 2016 by PhD student Murad Kablan and Assistant Professor Eric Keller from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

LASP employs student 鈥渃ommand controllers鈥� to help operate the space missions under its supervision. 鈥淟ASP is the only place in the world that has students work on spacecraft like this,鈥� says Reidar Larsen, a graduate student who started working at LASP as an undergraduate at CU Boulder. 鈥淚t鈥檚 completely unique.鈥�

Glacial retreat in the Canadian Arctic has uncovered landscapes that haven鈥檛 been ice-free in more than 40,000 years and the region may be experiencing its warmest century in 115,000 years, new CU Boulder research finds. The study, published in the journal Nature Communications, uses radiocarbon dating to determine the ages of plants collected at the edges of 30 ice caps on Baffin Island, west of Greenland.
