CU Boulder's 12Ìýresearch institutes account for more than half of all sponsored research dollars at the university—and they employ some of the most productive researchers in the country.ÌýWith more than 3,000 faculty, researchers, studentsÌýand supporting staff, the institutes make a major contribution to the university's research and education missions as well as the local and area economy.

Establishing a New Institute

The formation of institutes begins with the submission of proposals to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, and requires final approval by the University of Colorado Boulder's Chancellor.
