Program Summary听

The Marion E. Kenworthy 鈥� Sarah H. Swift Foundation was established to advance mental and emotional health of young people under age 21 by making grants to support innovative programs that advance the mental health of young people through social work, psychiatry, preventative psychiatry and community mental health. The Foundation emphasizes seed money for new programs as well as support for programs whose effectiveness is established. Research projects in the foundation鈥檚 area of interest are also accepted. Funding priorities of the foundation include but are not limited to:

  • Start up or seed money for projects in the Foundation鈥檚 area of interest.
  • Service proposals, particularly for replicable programs that involve needy populations of children and adolescents.
  • Research proposals that address important issues in the mental health and welfare of children and adolescents.
  • Advocacy proposals that show promise of having a policy impact in a given area of psychiatry, social work or child welfare.
  • Prevention or early intervention projects that address mental health issues or the emotional well-being of children.

Building projects and drug prevention projects are not funded.

Eligibility

Applications from individuals are not considered. Organizations must be incorporated nonprofits.

No geographic restrictions are applied, but there is a preference for grants in the New York City tri-state area, particularly with regard to service projects where site visits may be deemed advisable.

Building projects and drug prevention and treatment projects are not funded.

Limited Submission Guidelines

No more than one proposal from an organizational entity will be considered at any given time.

Award Information

Award Amount: Grants historically range from $5,000 to $45,000 with most being in the $10,000 - $25,000 range.
