  • DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS

I am a PhD student in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Colorado Boulder. I received both my BA in Linguistics and MS in Linguistics (concentrating in Sociolinguistics) from Georgetown University. My interests lie in sociocultural linguistics, at the intersections of discourse analysis and social semiotics. My research focuses on how interactants construct identity and social meaning through everyday interactions both in person and online. My research focuses on language and politics in the US, examining how liberal and progressive political organizations in the U.S. are using language and visual messaging in innovative ways to connect with and motivate their audiences
