My research focuses on how atmospheric drivers affect the surface mass balance of the surface of ice sheets and ice shelves. I’m particularly interested in how extreme events can affect surface mass balance non-linearly. The main tool I use is a variable resolution version of the global climate model CESM2 (VR-CESM). I’ve designed and run a new grid with a higher-resolution domain over Antarctica to examine the effect of large...

Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
Becca is a first year graduate student in ATOC working with Jan Lenaerts and Andrew Winters. She received a BA in mathematics from Pomona College and a Masters of Education from Vanderbilt University. Her current research is using self organizing maps to classify meteorological patterns that bring Atmospheric Rivers to East Antarctica. She is also interested in past and future impacts of Atmospheric Rivers in Antarctica.

Hi! I'm a 3rd year graduate studying meltwater in the polar regions. I came to CU from Colorado School of Mines where I recieved a BS in Geophysical Engineering. In 2019 I recieved a NASA FINESST Fellowship to study subsurface lakes in Antarctica. Currently I am working on a project that analyses global climate model CESM2's performance over Antarctica and a separate project that uses a snow model to analyze...
