Professor of Hearing Engineering Research Practice
James M. Kates (Electrical Engineer, MIT, 1972) is a research faculty member in the SLHS Department and has also worked extensively in research and development in the hearing-aid industry. His research focuses on the development of new signal-processing algorithms for hearing aids. A particular interest is the development of computational models for predicting the effects of hearing-aid signal processing on speech intelligibility and quality for both speech and music.Ìý
