The Hearing Research Lab explores how we listen in noisy environments. At a basic science level, we study how listeners navigate complex soundscapes.Ìý For example, how do we understand what one person is saying when we are listening in a busy coffee shop?
Our research also aims to improve listening with hearing aids in noisy environments.Ìý Our translational studies focus on understanding the complex relationships among the sound environment, the hearing-aid technology and the person with hearing loss.Ìý
The Hearing Research Lab welcome adults with both normal hearing and with hearing loss to participate in ourÌýstudies. ÌýWe invite students interested in learning more about our work to contact us for ways to become involved. Ìý We also engage in outreach to community groups (K-12 classroom teacher workshops, hearing-loss and elder groups) to share our work in hearing science and clinical audiology.
