If you are interested in joining aninterdisciplinary team working to improve lives through socially sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions, and you are a self-motivated, proactive, and productive leader with excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills, then we hope you will apply to join the Global Project Organizations (GPO) lab!
Every year we add new researchers to the team that are seekingan environment where they can be challenged and contribute meaningful engineering research of societal importance. PhD alumni go on to positively impact society as faculty, government, and industry leaders; please see the Research Team tab of the website under alumni to learn more.
We typically seek 1-2 new excellent PhD students to join our GPO Lab every year. Successful candidates will either have strong interest and expertise in an existing area or an idea to expand our impact in a related area. In GPO, we conduct novel but applied research, contributing new knowledge to advance theories and improve practice through new policies or interventions. GPO research areas:
- Disaster Risk Reduction, Resiliency, and Recovery (e.g., housing, schools)
- Engineering education for social justice and equity
- Sustainable and reliable infrastructure service delivery (safe water, sanitation)
- Collective action to reduce water consumption or enhance water reuse
- Organizational management and knowledge mobilization
Strong reading, writing, organizational, and analytical skills are required for all positions.
