Education abroad can boost your career by building foreign language and cross-cultural skills, and demonstrating adaptability and a wider perspective.   sponsors over 400 study abroad programs, many of which offer courses that count toward the IPHY major and/or fulfill Arts and Sciences core or elective requirements. Biology Advising encourages IPHY majors to take advantage of study abroad opportunities.

How to Find Programs and Courses for IPHY

The Education Abroad website provides a list of to help you determine which degree requirements can be fulfilled abroad. Courses related to physiology that are not listed can be submitted to the IPHY Department to be considered for IPHY credit. Courses that appear suitable for Arts and Sciences Core credit that are not listed can be submitted to the CU Education Abroad Office for review. You should meet with your academic advisor to discuss eligible courses and the best way to integrate education abroad into your IPHY degree. The provides tips for planning your experience abroad.

Note: Independent study abroad programs—ones that are not part of a CU-approved study abroad program—can be evaluated for credit only after the student has completed the coursework and the College of Arts and Sciences has received the transcript for the work. Courses Abroad Offered by IPHY Faculty

IPHY 4040 Global Seminar: History of Medicine explores the history of western European medicine from the Middle Ages to the 19th century with a focus on the influence of social events and how these shaped the process and evolution of medicine. Projects explore topics of student interest that might include pharmacology, pathology, mental illness, optometry, dentistry, women in medicine, and the influence of war on medical practices. This is a three-week Education Abroad Global Seminar during May/June.

IPHY 4041 Global Seminar: Health & Disease will provide a comprehensive study of community health and common diseases with a specific geographical case study that will vary.  Â鶹ÒùÔº will have the opportunity to learn about these topics through observations, discussions, visiting local clinics, and hospitals, and interaction with local communities. This is a three-week Education Abroad Global Seminar during May/June.
