Welcome to New Advisors
Thank you so much for your willingness, time, and commitment for serving as a student organization advisor. The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) has created the following resources as a guide to assist you through your advisor experience. On this website, you will learn what it means to be an advisor, expectations of advisors, tips for being a successful advisor, as well as many of other resources for supporting student organizations with their operations. These resources will be updated as we get changes and updates, so please check back frequently for new information.
The University and CSI constantly encourages students to be involved in student organizations to complement their classroom experiences. We believe involvement will allow students to grow personally and professionally, learn how to be effective leaders, build community on campus, and learn skills they can utilize in their future careers. With over 550 student organizations on campus, there are plenty of opportunities for students to plug in and be involved.
As an organization advisor, we challenge you to assist and support students through this process. You have a very unique opportunity to work alongside students as they participate in an organization. CSI believes you are one of the most important pieces to the development that we hope the students gain so you are invaluable to this process.
As you work with an organization, know that the staff in CSI is always here to help and support you. We hope that this is a relationship where we can work together to promote student involvement and student success. Our office will provide regular outreach, meetings, and trainings to connect more with you as well as equip you with the skills you need to be a successful advisor. We look forward to working with you!
Thank you for your involvement and commitment to our students!
Sincerely,
The Center for Student Involvement
