External Scholarships
Â鶹ÒùÔº of German are eligible for a wide range of scholarships and grants awarded by national and international organizations, as well as by the governments of the US, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. CU students of German have received many the scholarships listed below. Talk to the German faculty about any questions you have about applying for these scholarships!

The DAAD offers about 30 different kinds of scholarships and paid internships for undergraduates, recent graduates, and graduate students, including:

On the DAAD website, you can also search for other scholarships, including specialized scholarships for students in the fields of history, biology, chemistry, sales and marketing, administration, engineering, teaching and IT.
These are sponsored by the US government for study or teaching in a German-speaking country, usually for a year. Approximately 200 awards are given annually.

The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a fellowship funded by the German Bundestag and U.S. Department of State, that annually provides 75 American and 75 German young professionals, between the ages of 18½–24, the opportunity to spend one year in each other’s countries, studying, interning, and living with hosts on a cultural immersion program.
These fund a year of teaching English in an Austrian high school.
The Deutschland Stipendium is a merit-based scholarship of €300 a month available to international students enrolled at German universities. The scholarship is funded by the federal government and private donors. Nationality and personal income do not affect chances of being considered. Scholarships are available for one year or until the degree has been completed.
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung awards scholarships to international master and PhD students in order to enable study and research at universities in Germany. Monthly scholarships are available for international applicants under 30 who have completed a university degree in their home country. Applicants need to provide evidence of an above-average academic performance, have been actively involved in voluntary work for the benefit of society in their home country, and have an interest in political issues.
Goethe Goes Global Scholarships are awarded for all consecutive master’s programs offered at Goethe University. The scholarship includes a monthly stipend amount of 1,000€ for the standard period of a master’s program at Goethe-University (generally 2 years) and support and orientation from an experienced master’s student buddy during your studies. Applicants need to have completed at least two thirds of their bachelor’s degree at a university outside of Germany and need to be well versed in their academic discipline and are particularly interested in research. Scholarships are funded by the Johanna-Quandt-Foundation Frankfurt.
The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards scholarships to international students who gained their university entrance qualification from a school outside of Germany who wish to study a Masters or PhD degree at state or state-recognized universities in Germany. Masters Studies: €850 per month plus various individual allowances; PhD Studies: €1000 per month plus €100 mobility allowance per month, plus various individual allowances. The scholarship is awarded for two years as a rule, and may be extended twice at most by half a year.
