Founded by the University of Queensland in 2008, the  is an academic competition that cultivates students’ presentation and science communication skills by challenging them to describe their research within three minutes to a general audience after a few months of preparation.
The top three winners of the competition, which takes place annually in February, receive research funding, with the first place winner getting $1,500 and a chance to represent the university at the regional competition.
