Please drop by the CU Distribution Center. Time slots are available anytime between 1pm - 3pm from June 24 - July 12.Ìý You don’t have to schedule in advance, just come on down. Try to get your whole team to come in one or two sessions for efficiency sake. Folks who can’t attend during these hours should contact Casey at 303-434-3285 and we’ll make accommodations.ÌýÌýÌý

These viewing and fitting sessions will give you the opportunity to check out the new styles before making your selections. Most importantly, this is the time for you to get the right sizing. We will not be able to offer returns on items so it’s important that you order the right sizes. Please wear a light tight fitting t-shirt to wear during their sizing session.Ìý

Why the change?

Our workwear was last updated in 2007. Significant advancements have been made in fabric technology since then and we are confident that the new styles will enhance comfort, durability, and performance. The new materials will provide better moisture-wicking, breathability, and overall comfort during various working conditions.

What You Can Expect:

  1. Quality and Comfort: The new workwear is chosen for its comfort, durability, and adherence to our CU Boulder branding standards.
  2. Improved Image: It will help present a unified and professional image for our team.
  3. Ordering and Distribution Details: We'll share the ordering process and distribution dates and logistics soon. The first step is to view the choices you’ll have and make sure you know your size(s), so that when the time comes to place the group order, you’ll be ready.

Your dedication is crucial to our success, and we're excited to recognize your efforts with this gesture. We hope you like the new look!

For any questions or more information, feel free to contact me at 303-434-3285 or email casey.sanders-1@colorado.edu.Ìý

Facilities Management Work Wear Program FAQs

I am an I&S employee. Do I need to wear workwear while at work on campus?

  • Some I&S employees, based on the requirements of their job duties, are issued daily workwear. This new workwear will replace the old tan shirts.
  • Some I&S employees wear other personal protective equipment like gloves, and should follow the guidelines and requirements of their individual departments.
  • Student employees and temporary employees in Facilities Operations (CBS and Outdoor Services) will be provided with between one to five short sleeve or long sleeve t-shirts (depending on their work schedule and hours).Ìý
  • Student employees and temporary employees in PDC, I&S Business Services and I&S Human Resources do not qualify for the workwear program at this time.

Will the university provide workwear for employees to use while working on campus?

  • Distribution of workwear will be handled by the Distribution Center. Supervisors whose employees need new or replacement workwear are asked to submit requests via AiM.
  • Contractors performing work on campus should wear their own company branded workwear unless other arrangements are made.

Do I need to wear my workwear at all times while at work?

  • Employees should wear workwear in public and common areas of campus spaces. Discretion can be used while working on tasks that require speciality PPE and gear.

Can I purchase additional items?

Eventually, yes. We will have an option for staff to be able to purchase additional specialty items in the coming months. More details on how that ordering process will work will be coming soon.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

Viewing and Sizing for new FM Work Wear

When/Where

Please have your team drop by the CU Distribution Center. Time slots are available anytime between 1pm - 3pm from June 24 - July 12.Ìý You don’t have to schedule in advance, just come on down. Try to get your whole team to come in one or two sessions for efficiency sake.Ìý Folks who can’t attend during these hours should contact Casey at 303-434-3285 and we’ll make accommodations.ÌýÌýÌý

These viewing and fitting sessions will give your staff the opportunity to check out the new styles before making your selections. Most importantly, this is the time for your staff to get the right sizing. We will not be able to offer returns on items so it’s important that they order the right sizes. Please ask your staff to wear their own light tight fitting t-shirt to wear during the sizing session.Ìý

What will my team receive?

  • Each Facilities Management Operations (Trades, Outdoor Services and CBS) staff member will receive 5 required daily workwear shirts (such as a polo or t-shirt or 'driduck' workshirt) -AND- one formal optional workwear item (such as a button up shirt) -AND- one specialty item (either a vest, a jacket, or a hoodie).

    • Staff will have the choice to order 5 of the same workwear shirt, or 5 different styles of shirts - it’s up to them.

    • Student Employees and temporary employees within CBS and OS will have the option to order between one and five short sleeve or long sleeve t-shirts, depending on their work assignment and hours. Supervisors of student and temporary staff should coordinate directly with their students and temps to let them know which items they will receive.

  • Each I&S Business Services, I&S Human Resources, and Planning, Design and Construction staff member will have the choice to order ONE item - either one workshirt (a polo or a t-shirt or a 'driduck' workshirt) -OR- one formal optional shirt (a button up shirt) -OR- one specialty item (a vest, a jacket or a hoodie)

    • Student employees and temporary employees within I&S Business Services, I&S Human Resources and Planning, Design and Construction will not be included in this initial workwear order. At a supervisors discretion, these employees may be included in future workwear orders in the coming months, paid for out of that group/team's departmental speedtype.

ÌýWhat if my team wants something else?

We do understand that for some of our job duties, personal protective equipment (PPE) is required due to the nature of the work performed. That will continue, this workwear is not meant to replace those items, rather, it will supplement what your team already has.Ìý
  • In the future, we will define a process for supervisors to be able to order additional workwear for their team members (as we hire new staff, and as shirts get worn out).Ìý This process will be defined and the steps communicated in the coming months.Ìý

  • In the coming months, all FM staff will also be given the opportunity to purchase additional specialty items using their own payment method, but not right now. For this first order, we are limiting the order to the items described above.

How do I place my team order?

We are now ready to begin collecting orders from each of you.Ìý Here is how it will work:

Step 1: Go to the distribution center to view the workwear options and make sure you decide which size(s) are right for you. The distribution center will be open daily, Monday through Friday from 1pm - 3pm from June 24 through July 12.

View a PDF of all the new options and sizes here!

Step 2: Once you have decided what you want to order, fill out an order slip.Ìý

Please note that we won’t be able to return, exchange or swap out the items you order, so it’s very important that you know your proper sizes and styles.Ìý This is why we are offering the viewing sessions.

Step 3: Turn in your order slip, either to your supervisor, or directly to Casey at the Distribution Center.Ìý If you are a supervisor and are collecting order slips on behalf of your staff, please collect slips from all of your staff and then deliver them to Casey at the Distribution Center.Ìý ALL ORDER SLIPS ARE DUE TO CASEY NO LATER THAN 5PM ON FRIDAY, JULY 12. We need one order slip from each employee.

Step 4: One large bulk order will be placed, and supervisors will be notified when the workwear for their team is ready for them to pick up.Ìý We expect the new workwear will be ready in early September. We will keep you informed on the timeline as we know more.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Casey.Sanders-1@colorado.edu

Thanks for your patience and understanding as we roll out the new workwear order process.
