EMEN 5830 - Special Topics: Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems for Technical Managers
Instructor: Tami Katz
Suggested prior knowledge: EMEN 5405 (Fundamentals of Systems Engineering)
Prerequisites: None
Semester(s) Offered: See course list
Course Description
Introduces technical managers involved in Systems Engineering to digital engineering, with a focus on Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and how it is used during system development. Concepts include awareness of terminology, digital twins, simulation, architecture development, frameworks, and a data-centric project exploring how the digital ecosystem is developed for an example system.
Skills and Knowledge Gained
- Knowledge of digital engineering terminology and usage.
- Knowledge of digital twins, digital threads, and how to apply.
- Introduction to model based systems engineering concepts and tools.
- Understanding of how to apply these methods during the system development lifecycle.
Why should you take this course?
Gain skills in leading teams using digital approaches when engineering complex systems, increase your knowledge on the current trends (such as MBSE) and how to apply for successful outcomes.
