Non-Cinema Studies students and Graduates are not allowed to rent Cinema Studies equipment. Alumni may reserve studios over the summer if classes aren't scheduled. For questions on availability or requests email: thekage@colorado.edu.
Â鶹ÒùÔº can rent gear for a maximum of 48 hours (with the weekend counting as 1 day). There is a $5 extension fee for any reservations over the 48-hour limit. Â鶹ÒùÔº may only extend once per reservation.
KAGE RENTAL AGREEMENT
Â鶹ÒùÔº sign a Kage Rental Agreement at the beginning of every semester before they're able to check out equipment. If you have not signed a rental agreement you CANNOT check out equipment. If you have not signed a Rental Agreement do so ASAP!
RULES/REGULATIONS FOR EQUIPMENT RENTALS
- You are required to be present and available for the entire check in process.
- All kits are ORGANIZED and all accessories in kits are present. We will ask you to repack cases correctly upon check in.
- All Gaffer Tape MUST BE REMOVED from all items upon check in.
- All Lens/Camera Sensors MUST BE CLEANED, and returned in the same/similar condition upon check in. Cleaning supplies will be present at the service table if needed,
- All cords are wrapped CORRECTLY.
- All items are in the CORRECT cases with corresponding numbers.
If you walk away before your equipment is checked in, and it does not meet the requirements outlined above, we will charge you mishandling fees upon your next pick up.
Failure to meet any regulations required above will result in being required to do so upon check in and/or accrue extra fees.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS & LATE FEES
You must pick up and drop off equipment ON TIME and in GOOD CONDITION.
If you are 45 minutes late, your order will be CANCELED. Your order will be released for other students, and you will not be able to pick up that day. We will ask you to make a new reservation for the following day or come back during our walk-in hours.
If you’re late for return by 15 minutes, you will be charged late fees that will be paid upon gear return. Late fees will be waived if the student has communicated prior to their return time that they will be late. Please call the Kage (303-492-1533) and explain the circumstances for why you are late. We will not accept circumstances explained over email if your check-in time has already passed at the time it was received.
Being late will result in being charged DOUBLE the rental fee per item. Each day an item is late, this fee will continue to double.
If you are repeatedly late or have gone an extended period without any form of contact, the Kage reserves the right to BLOCK you from the system, and you will not be able to check out gear.
DAMAGE FEES/LOST ITEMS/MISHANDLING FEE
If an item/Kit Accessory is lost or missing, you will be charged the FULL RETAIL PRICE (including shipping) to replace it.
Â鶹ÒùÔº are subject to a mishandling fee if an item is packaged incorrectly (e.g. cords haphazardly thrown in and smashed by the case, XLR cables wrapped incorrectly). This fee is applied per item, NOT reservation.
Mishandling fees will not be charged if the student is present during the check in process to correct it. If they’ve walked away and are not present before the process is complete, they will be charged $5 per item that is packaged incorrectly. A manager will reach out to them to have the fee paid before their next check out.
