Application Coaching Program

鶹Ժ who meet our eligibility requirements and who are preparing to apply to professional school in the following summer are invited to participate in our individualized Application Coaching program.

Enrollment Status

  • Option 1:
    • You must currently be taking pre-health coursework while enrolled in one of our post-baccalaureate programsand be on track to complete at least 9 such credit hours by June 1, 2025.
      • If you are takingonline courses, be aware that at least one of these courses must be taken in an in-person format (daytime or evening).
  • Option 2:
    • You must already have completed 18 credit hours of pre-health coursework (in any format) while enrolled in one of our post-baccalaureate programs.​

Recent engagement in pre-health coursework:

  • During or since Summer 2023, you must have completed at least 9 credit hours of pre-health prerequisites or math/science electives.
    • If you took some of those credits at another institution, at least 3 of those credit hours must have been taken while enrolled in one of our post-baccalaureate programs.

GPA

  • Your Cumulative Undergraduate and Science* GPAs both need to be 3.0+ by January 1, 2025.
  • You must be on track to have completed three terms in a row with term GPAs of 3.0+ by May 15, 2025.
  • If your GPA falls below these thresholds, send an email to ceprehealth@colorado.edu to ask if you may qualify for an exception.

Clinical Experience

  • You must be on track to score a “2” or above in the Direct Patient Interaction category on ourSelf Assessment by June 1, 2025.

Engagement in Pre-Health Advising

  • You must have completed at least one individual pre-health advising session during or after March 2024.

This robust program begins with a series of three mandatory group meetings that provide foundational guidance on preparing an effective, compelling application to professional school.

  • Overview of Application Preparation Process
    • In this meeting, wediscuss what to do in themonths leading up to application season. We also review each of the steps and deadlines for participating in our Application Coaching program.
  • Pre-Application Workshop, Part 1
    • We will review copies of successful applications, discuss strategies for asking for strong letters of recommendation, and revisit our pre-healthself-assessment to help you think of ways tostrengthen your candidacy between now and application time.
  • Pre-Application Workshop, Part 2
    • Participants in the Application Coaching program will turn in the first draft of their professional school applicationover winter break. In preparation, thisworkshop provides guidance on best practices for writing your personal statement, your application experience descriptions, and your secondary essays.In addition, we will provideadvice on writing the disclosure statements for academic or legal infractions, in case either or both of these apply to you.

  • Tabs 1-7 are required.Tabs 8-10 are optional but recommended so that we can provide you with truly comprehensive advising.

  • We will review yourPre-Application Spreadsheet to verify that you have completed all required sections in good faith before the deadline. If approved, you will be invited to schedule your application coaching sessions.

Deadlines:

  • Full-Access Deadline (eligible for 3 individual coaching sessions): Submit completed Pre-Application Spreadsheet by January 15 (no later than 11:59 p.m., MT)
  • Final Deadline (eligible for 2 individual coaching sessions): Submit completed Pre-Application Spreadsheet by April 1 (no later than 11:59 p.m., MT)
  • Once your Pre-Application Spreadsheet has been approved, you will be given instructions for scheduling your individual application coaching sessions.
  • To ensure that all of our advisees have equitable access to individual coaching, each student may schedule a maximum of one coaching session per calendar month.
