Grants and Fellowships Available

The Benson Center funds research and educational initiatives that contribute to critical reflection on the development of Western civilization. All CU Boulder faculty and students are eligible to apply for fellowship positions and grants, though priority grant funding will be given to faculty fellows and undergraduate fellows.

Student Funding

Each year, the Benson Center funds a number of student scholarships and grants. Â鶹ÒùÔº serving as Benson Center Fellows are given priority for funding. Â鶹ÒùÔº are encouraged to apply to become a fellow and to become active participants in the Center's intellectual life on campus. Fellows receive a stipend in addition to any grant or scholarship awards they may apply for.

The Benson Center is pleased to invite applicants to the Benson Center Undergraduate Fellows Program.  The program aims to build a community of undergraduate students interested in participating in good-faith dialogs about various timely topics and who desire to learn more about the moral, economic, and political questions of our time. Â鶹ÒùÔº in the program have historically come from many different backgrounds and majors, which contributes to the diversity and experience of the fellows. Neither the Undergrad Fellows Program, nor the Center, have a political affiliation or viewpoint to promote; rather, the fellows program is an extension of the Center’s mission to maintain a wide range of political, economic and philosophical perspectives at CU Boulder. Financial support for the Undergraduate Fellows Program is generously provided by the John J. Wehman Scholarship Fund and the Bill Freytag Conservative Thought Fund.

Faculty Funding

The Benson Center funds research and educational initiatives that contribute to critical reflection on the development of Western civilization. Although funding is open to any faculty at CU Boulder, special consideration is given to faculty fellows, and those who have a demonstrated interest in the study of Western Civ through participation at Center events. Faculty interested in applying for grants should consider applying as faculty fellows, which is a year-long appointment to participate in Center programming and includes a $4,000 stipend

The Benson Center invites applications from CU Boulder faculty to join our interdisciplinary community for the 2024-25 academic year.

Applicants are welcome from faculty rostered in academic disciplines across the CU Boulder campus. Fellows will receive a stipend of up to $8,000 (commensurate with duties).
