The Center for Western Civilization, Thought & Policy will host professor Mark Lilla for an event on Thurs. April 11, 2019. Lilla's lecture, "Identity and Citizenship," will discuss how a clash in identity politics have affected national discourse. This event is being presented by the CWCTP's Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought & Policy.

Lilla's lecture will cover the clash of identity politics between the left and right in the US. He will discuss how this clash has contributed to the degradation of our national discourse. His lecture will question if a renewed focus on our shared citizenship can move us beyond such disagreements. 

Mark Lilla is a professor of humanities at Columbia University. Lilla specializes in intellectual history and his research focuses on Western political and religious thought. Lilla has authored many books relating to political identity and political theory. Lilla has also received prestigious fellowships with the Institut d'Études Avancées and the Guggenheim. 

Â鶹ÒùÔº, faculty, and members of the public are encouraged to attend the lecture. The scheduled presentation will take place in the Kittredge Multipurpose Rooms , beginning at 5:30 pm. Free parking is available after 5 pm in lots 308 and 416 along Kittredge Loop Drive. Paid parking is also available directly in front of Kittredge Central Hall. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session and a small reception.
