Ground Facilities
The University of Colorado, Boulder invests in astronomical facilities all over the world to give our scientists access to the biggest and best telescopes and most advanced supercomputers. CU students and faculty, working in international collaborations, help design, build, and test instruments for upcoming world-class observing facilities. From the 24” telescope on campus used by advanced undergraduates for semester-long research projects to the UV rocket facility helmed by graduate students, education of students is the driving force behind all university research in the APS Department. Because our students, faculty, and staff participate in all aspects of facility development and production, we are prepared to do the best science from the moment of first light. Few other universities can give students access to such the wide array of tools to teach tomorrow’s greatest physicists.
This is just a small selection of the ground-based facilities CU invests into investigate the universe.
