Academic Plan & Requirements

The bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics requires completion of a minimum of 128 credit hours covering various levels of math, computing experience, science and engineering courses. Applied mathematics majors are required to take 24 credit hours of an associated subject to which they will apply math. These areas of emphasis have included economics, computer science, biology, physics and cartography.

And an additional degree option for applied mathematics students:

  • Bachelor’s-accelerated master’s: A combined bachelor's (BS) and master's (MS) degree is offered for highly motivated undergraduate students. The BS/MS program allows students to take advanced courses at an accelerated pace, engage in an independent research project and obtain both degrees in five years.
