- Professors Mark Borden and Mark Rentschler have been inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows. The program is among the highest professional distinctions given to medical and biological engineers, representing the top 2% of these engineers around the world.
- Assistant Professors Kōnane Bay and Ankur Gupta from CU Boulder’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering each received three-year grant to advance research relevant to the U.S. Air Force.
- Sustainability Buffs are building with bricks made of algae, 3D-printing schools and more. Also in the latest issue of the Coloradan: the 100-year-old superfan Peggy Coppom, SpaceX astronaut Sarah Gillis, and an ode to the Dark Horse.
- Paula Pranda won the top student award at an annual meeting for her research on engineered adhesives. Pranda’s work has potential applications for medical devices and screen protectors, among other uses.
- Karl Linden has been awarded the A.P. Black Research Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to water science and water supply practices. Linden’s research involves pioneering contributions to ultraviolet water treatment technology.
- Tom Blumenthal and Ivan Smalyukh have been named fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
- Amy Javernick-Will, a professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, received the highest academic honor in construction engineering and management from the American Society of Civil Engineers.
- Justin Schwartz is proud to give Peggy Coppom of the “CU twins” an award recognizing her lifetime of dedication, legacy of memories and a heart that will forever be part of CU Boulder.
- CU Athletics and the Environmental Center have received this year's GameDay Football Zero Waste Touchdown Challenge award in recognition of efforts to reduce and recycle waste generated during football games at Folsom Field.
