On the Move
- The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, CU Boulder’s longest-established and highest-budget research institute, has appointed Scott Tucker as its new director of engineering. Tucker brings more than two decades of engineering and project management experience to the role.
- Doreen Jokerst has accepted a new position as chief of police for the city of Overland Park, Kansas. There will be no disruption to public safety services at CU Boulder during Jokerst's transition.
- Katherine Siegel, a new CIRES fellow, uses data science and qualitative methods to understand global change processes.
- Thomas Andrews, professor of history, has been appointed the faculty director of the Center of the American West. His appointment became effective in July.
- The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics has named Lynda Duran associate director for diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
- Massimo Ruzzene, vice chancellor for research and innovation, will begin reporting directly to Chancellor Justin Schwartz, effective Aug. 30. Ruzzene currently reports to Provost Russell Moore.
- Effective Aug. 26, Ann Schmiesing will be the interim chancellor at CU’s Denver campus, as announced by President Todd Saliman. Schmiesing currently serves as vice chancellor for academic resource management at CU Boulder.
- Ryan Hayward, who holds the James and Catherine Patten Endowed Professorship of Chemical and Biological Engineering, was elected chair by the chemical and biological engineering department’s faculty.
- CU Boulder has named Associate Professor Nikki Lovenduski director of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research, effective July 1. Lovenduski has held the interim director position at INSTAAR since August 2023.
- Michael Sy Uy will join the College of Music’s musicology faculty as an associate professor and assume leadership of the AMRC this fall, bringing to his new responsibilities a rich background in musicological research as well as a broadly based perspective on academic administration.
