The most effective way for people to regulate their eating and weight without a strict diet is to use their internal signals to balance the overwhelming power of good-tasting food, according to a University of Colorado at Boulder psychology professor. Linda Craighead, who has done research on eating disorders and weight management for more than 20 years, has developed a technique called "appetite awareness training" to help people stop overeating and control their weight, while still eating foods they enjoy.

Supernovae And Formation Of Planets To Be Discussed At CU'S Fiske Planetarium

Supernovae and the science of planet formation will be discussed in February during Fiske Planetarium presentations at the University of Colorado at Boulder. "What Planets Are and How They Form" will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, and Friday, Feb. 10, while "Supernovae" will take place Thursday, Feb. 16, and Friday, Feb. 17. All presentations begin at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students and $3.50 for children and seniors.

White House Invites CU Student To Attend State Of The Union Address

A University of Colorado student from the school's first-place Solar Decathlon team will sit with First Lady Laura Bush during the President's State of the Union address tonight. Jeff Lyng, a graduate student in the civil, environmental and architectural engineering department at CU-Boulder who was project manager for CU's 2005 Solar Decathlon team, was invited to the event as a special guest of the White House. The president's address, which begins at 9 p.m. EST (7 p.m. MST), will be televised on all major networks.

Al Sharpton To Speak On Racism During Feb. 8 Talk At CU-Boulder

The Rev. Al Sharpton will speak Feb. 8 about racism and politics in America at a free public event presented by the University of Colorado at Boulder's student-run Cultural Events Board. Sharpton's presentation is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the University Memorial Center on the CU-Boulder campus. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to arrive early because there will be no reserved seating.

CU-Boulder 'Invention To Venture' Workshop To Focus On Sustainable Energy Technologies
