On Friday, April 1, 20 staff and faculty members were recognized with the Marinus Smith Award during a reception hosted by New Student & Family Programs and CU Parents Association (CUPA). The Marinus Smith Recognition Awards are presented each spring to select CU-Boulder teachers, advisors and staff who made a significant, positive impact on the lives of CU-Boulder students.

Education faculty to attend conference hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama

Two School of Education faculty members—Ben Kirshner, director of CU Engage , and Kevin Welner, director of the National Education Policy Center —are headed to Washington D.C., to participate in a national education conference at the White House on March 17. The conference is part of First Lady Michelle Obama's initiative, Reach Higher .

CU-Boulder names next year's scholar of conservative thought

Francis Beckwith will serve as the Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy for the 2016-17 academic year. He is the fourth person to hold the position. Beckwith earned a PhD in philosophy from Fordham University and a master of juridical studies from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. Beckwith, professor of philosophy and church-state studies at Baylor University in Texas, will succeed Brian Domitrovic, whose appointment ends this academic year.
