Welcome to October! It's the month of ghosts, ghouls and getting on your school grind. Attend some events this week to make sure you're staying involved on campus.

This week brings talks by political commentator David Gergen and actor Patrick Stewart, strategies to get hired, London study abroad info, animated film showings, soccer and volleyball games, Ecotoberfest and more.

Monday, Oct. 2

During this week’s I Love Monday’s event, you will have the opportunity to customize trail mix! It's the perfect mixture of salty and sweet.

David Gergen, political commentator, author and adviser to four U.S. presidents from both parties, will share lessons he’s learned, as well as offer advice on becoming a leader, overcoming setbacks and building coalitions.


Tuesday, Oct. 3

The more skills you pick up during your college years, the better chance you have at getting hired after graduation. This workshop is here to help you learn foundational skills and improve upon the ones you already have.

Wednesday, Oct. 4

CU has plenty of study abroad opportunities coming up. This info session will discuss an opportunity to study in London, England. During the session students will learn more about how they can earn 3 credits in three weeks while taking in the rich history of London.

If you’re a queer or trans individual living in Will Vill, this event is for you! The pride office is hosting Will Vill Wednesdays as a way to connect the community by playing games, doing crafts and hanging out.

5–8 p.m. Norlin Library, fifth floor, Center for British & Irish Studies (M549)
Join Kristine Doll, a professional poet and translator who recently won the The Bogdani Prestigious Prize from the International Writers Association, for a poetry reading in Norlin Library.Ěý

Search for opportunities during the All Industries Career & Internship Fair. Employers from all backgrounds will be in attendance to share information about available internships and jobs.

Join a free, one-mile charity underwear run and afterparty. Please remember to bring at least five articles of gently-worn clothing for a local nonprofit. Donors will receive a free fanny pack.

Friday, Oct. 6

Yay, it’s Friday! Unwind with a performance from DJ Epsilon.

Program Council is showing “Sing Street” this Friday. The 2016 film follows a boy living in 1980s Dublin who starts a band as a way to impress the girl he likes.

After taking on USC, the CU women’s volleyball team is going up against the University of Oregon.Ěý

Oct. 6–15 7:30 p.m.Ěý University Theatre, Loft Theatre $20
This female comedy play is set during the French Revolution’s “reign of terror.” Award-winning playwright is one of the most produced playwrights in America since 2015.


Saturday, Oct. 7

2–6 p.m. Louisville Community Park
This event will teach attendees about the Masters of the Environment graduate program, while providing live music, a beer garden, food trucks, a sustainable market, a Halloween costume exchange and more.

English actor Patrick Stewart is coming to the UMC as part of his book tour for his memoir “Making It So.” Â鶹ŇůÔş can pick up a free ticket on Monday, Oct. 2, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Center for Student Involvement (UMC 330).
