CU Boulder Chief Operating Officer Patrick O’Rourke on Wednesday announced two finalists for the position of vice chancellor for infrastructure and sustainability.

The campus community is invited to participate in public forums with each of the respective candidates on March 6 and 7.

The finalists for the position include:

  • Chris Ewing, interim vice chancellor for infrastructure and sustainability, CU Boulder
  • Robert Robinson, assistant vice president for facilities and campus services, Pomona College

“I am thrilled for our campus community to meet these finalists, each of whom has excelled in a variety of roles and would bring valuable experience and expertise to our campus executive leadership team,” O’Rourke said. “I’m grateful for the work of our search committee, including chairperson Ann Schmiesing, for guiding us toward a group of finalists who are all highly capable of ensuring we advance a sustainable, resilient and inclusive physical campus that enhances our mission of education and research.”

In addition to the open forums, finalist interviews with campus leaders will take place in the coming days and weeks, with the goal of identifying a final candidate this spring.

Registration for the virtual open forums is required. are available online for public review.

The public has the opportunity to submit questions for the candidates in advance through the registration links above. Questions may also be submitted to the Zoom host through the chat during the forums and will be asked as time permits. Priority will be given to questions submitted in advance.

Participants in the campus forums will have the opportunity to submit feedback for each finalist via online surveys distributed during the events. Feedback can also be submitted via email to evc-coo@colorado.edu by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 9. O’Rourke will review all feedback prior to making an offer to a candidate.

The vice chancellor for infrastructure and sustainability plays the central role in shaping the campus’s physical infrastructure through planning, design and construction; facilities operations and services; sustainability; and environmental health and safety. The position reports directly to the COO.
