Plans are already underway to welcome our new class of students this fall. In order to provide incoming students a better opportunity to build community and have a more positive move-in experience, some changes have been made from last year’s model.

Fall Welcome will occur Aug. 19 through Aug. 31, with move-in beginning on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Move-in will begin on Saturday, Aug. 18 for international students. It will go through Tuesday, Aug. 21. Â鶹ÒùԺ’ will be determined by their residence hall; this allows students to start building community and make connections right away, as they meet their roommate(s), floor mates and resident advisors.

Parking

Campus parking permit holders, commuters and those using meter or pay station parking—including faculty and staff—can expect a higher volume of traffic around campus during move-in. Faculty and staff should plan for limited access and possible closures to central campus parking lots from Sunday, Aug. 19, through Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to plan alternate transportation options to get to campus, or take advantage of alternate work arrangements, if possible. Closer to move-in, permit holders will receive an email notification of any parking lot impacts from Parking Services.

Fall Welcome

Fall Welcome begins Sunday, Aug. 19, and ends with the Rocky Mountain Showdown on Friday, Aug. 31. Fall Welcome creates a centralized, campuswide welcome experience for all incoming students and families. Programs occurring through Fall Welcome will be designed to provide resources and campus information, establish affinity and a sense of belonging within the campus community, and offer insight and support strategies for a safe and healthy college experience.

Campus departments are invited to submit programs, events and opportunities to be included on the Fall Welcome schedule.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are an essential component during Fall Welcome. The volunteer support from our campus community ensures the move-in process and programs are efficient and run smoothly. It enhances the feelings of welcome and belonging for our new students and families.

There are a for both groups and individuals. If you would like to volunteer as a department or group, contact Hannah Wilks at hannah.wilks@colorado.edu. All Fall Welcome volunteer information can be found on the Volunteer Resource Center website.

A total of 1,800 campus community members volunteered last year, and we are seeking 3,000 volunteers to ensure 2018’s Fall Welcome and move-in are successful. Your support is appreciated!
