The Volunteer Resource Center (VRC) is celebrating 50 years of engagement and action on the CU-Boulder campus.
Over the past 50 years, the VRC has worked to create a culture of service and engagement within CU-Boulder and outside communities, and to connect students, staff and faculty to the larger issues that impact the communities they live in.
Everyone on campus is invited to celebrate both the history and future of the VRC at a 50th anniversary celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Abrams Lounge at the Center for Community (3rd Floor). .
To continue the celebration, the VRC is issuing a service challenge to the CU-Boulder community that encourages students, staff and faculty to participate in 50 hours of service work in your community in the upcoming year.
All service is counted, including but not limited to: VRC events, CU-Boulder or community service events, any individual service with community partners, group service projects and court-mandated hoursÌý. .
The webform is now active; participants can sign up and log service hours. The VRC will provide participants with a form to log service challenge hours.
Participants get to set the timeline of when they would like to have completed 50 hours of service.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
- The person who completes their 50 hours the fastest.
- The person who completes the most hours overall.
- The campus group that completes the most hours overall.
Later in spring 2016, toward the end of the challenge, the VRC will host an event in which everyone who participated will be recognized. Those who completed 50 hours will receive a certificate and T-shirt.
