Donna Gerren, engineering instructor at the University of Colorado at Boulder, has received the 2007 Faculty Advisor Award presented by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the organization's January meeting in Reno, Nev.
The award was presented to Gerren during the 2007 AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit Jan. 8-11. Gerren was honored "for outstanding and sustained commitment and enthusiasm for student education and involvement in the AIAA Student Branch at the University of Colorado at Boulder."
Gerren joined the CU-Boulder faculty in the aerospace engineering sciences department teaching aircraft design in 1996. She previously worked as an aerospace engineer at Martin-Marietta, McDonnell-Douglas, DAR Corp. and at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., while completing her doctoral degree.
The Faculty Advisor Award is presented to the faculty adviser of a chartered AIAA student branch who has made outstanding contributions as a faculty adviser, based on the work of his or her student branch in local, regional and national activities. Student branch members and the AIAA Student Activities Committee select the award recipients.
