The University of Colorado Technical Research Service, a fee-based document delivery and research service, will close on Jan. 31.

The CTRC has been a department of the University Libraries for nearly 40 years and was one of the first services of its kind. Clients have included companies such as Ball Aerospace, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Lockheed Martin, National Geographic and hundreds of others.

Requests for CU in-house photocopies will be accepted through Jan. 16, and staff members will be available to answer questions about accounts through January. The CTRC Web site now features a list of other document suppliers at ucblibraries.colorado.edu/ctrc/index.htm.

The service has offered companies custom research using traditional library resources, innovative problem solving and non-traditional approaches to find answers. CTRC provided documents from the University Libraries collection and an international network of suppliers.

Since 1989 CTRC has operated on self- generated revenue and is closing with a cash balance. According to Libraries Dean and Director, James F. Williams, "It is with regret that we will be closing CTRC due to changes in demand for this type of service. The University Libraries and CTRC staff wish to express our appreciation for all support received over the years."

CTRC staff will move to other departments in the Libraries.
