A new podcast produced by the University of Colorado at Boulder Office of News Services offers fitness tips for Nordic and alpine skiing from Daniel Weinberger, CU-Boulder's assistant Nordic and fitness coach.

Weinberger says it's still not too late for most people to get into shape for skiing this year even if they have a ski vacation planned within the next month. One hour of exercise per day, three to four days a week, is all it takes.

"If somebody could commit three to four hours a week doing specific exercises they'll be in good enough shape to cross country or alpine ski in just a few weeks," said Weinberger.
